This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements as well as workflow improvements.

 

Features

 

  • Preference profiles: Users can import/export and save user created preference profiles. This is great for users who switch workstations and require their set-up personalised.

  • Snapshots:Auto-save functionality returns in the form of Snapshots. Users can select when the project is saved and how many back-ups they require. This can be found under the Misc. options in preferences.

  • Merge Scenes: Users can now merge scenes. Simply collapse all scenes and select two or more to merge them into one.

  • Merge Lines: Users can now merge lines of the same character. Once merged the lines will be separated by a gap to retain current timing settings.

  • Character sorting: Users can sort scene characters now for faster sorting of timeline lines. This also affects the character selection dropdown in the script view.

  • Percentage rating (Auto-Sync): Adds a percentage rating and bar to Auto-Sync. This allows user to see how many lines are left to sync. 

  • Pop-up window quick keys: Users can press return to select 'OK' and click esc key to select 'Cancel'. This allows for faster integration and workflow.

  • Character selection simplification: Users can now select character filtering quicker with a new dropdown menu. Users can also op out of the tick box design of the current character selection in Preferences>Behaviours>Character Editor by selecting it to filter based on selection.

  • Subtitle support: New formats are now compatible with Voice

  • Import EBU SEF (.stl)

  • Import SMPTE TTS (.dfxp, .ttml, .xml)...

  • New shortcut key to quickly move lines: Holding 'Shift+Command' and dragging with the mouse on the timeline allows users to push lines forward or back changing postions quicker and more efficiently.

  • Video Export: Users can now export by selecting a scene in the export window.

  • Report Builder: Character description added to report builder menu.

  • Core video display timer: Under 'Global>Experimental', This feature can support smoother playback of the rythmoband when using the default media window.

 

Fixes

 

  • Large text editing issue: Issue when entering text in large line formats caused significant performance issues.

  • Text wrapping: Issue when viewing large script lines in the drop down script selection.

  • Blackmagic device / Open GL output: Improvements around font handling. If a font is not specified, text may appear unreadable. Selecting a font will remove the issue around un-readable or pixelated text.

  • Fixed an issue where the Advanced Export would not correctly appear upon selection. (OSX 10.9)

  • Cantonese support: Cantonese words can be separated automatically.

  • Non-English script in MS Word file import: Fixed a bug dropping all non-English text.

  • Smaller Toolbar: The size of main toolbar became smaller to populate more important content.

  • Fixed an issue where merging a scene would not include scene characters.

  • Line snapping: An issue causing line-snapping to stop functioning has been resolved.

  • Play head positioning: An issue causing play head position to appear off-screen has been resolved.

  • General macOS 10.13 compatibility testing: Please note we have tested this version up until macOS 10.13.4.

IMPORTANT

 

If users open project files with the latest VoiceQ, the older versions of VoiceQ may not be able to open the updated project files. MacOS 10.13 users need to 'Save as...' projects if previously built on MacOS 10.12 or lower. VoiceQ will then restart and users can use the updated file.

VOICEQ WRITER 3.6 UPDATE

This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements.

 

IMPORTANT

We are aware of an issue with opening VoiceQ on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra and are currently working with PACE as there is a compatibility issue with iLok manager.

 

In the interim please follow the steps below:

  1. Run iLok License Manager

  2. Login with the iLok account that has the license(s).

  3. Drag the license(s) to a proper place (Local Machine (writer only) or iLok USB key)

  4. Then VoiceQ will start without issue.

 

Auto-Updates

The older versions of VoiceQ prior to 3.6.0+ cannot receive auto updates any longer because our server address has been updated.

Users will need to download 3.6.0+ to receive auto updates.

 

New Features

  1. Alert user before deleting (scenes) – May be controlled by an option in the preferences.

  2. Option to Collapse all scenes at once / Open at once

  3. Navigation by Markers - List of Markers in Project

  4. Selecting a line should snap to position on timeline when selection is made

  • Fixes issues with Marker additions to Timeline.

  • Fixes issues with Character behaviour to add.

  • Fixed sizing of toolbar UI position. 

  • Fixed a logic issue with undo/redo not including editing the length of a line(s) on the timeline.

AUTO-UPDATE CHANGES

The older versions of VoiceQ prior to 3.5 cannot receive auto updates any longer because our server address has been updated.

 

Users will need to download 3.5 to receive auto updates.

 

New Features

  1. Floating Waveform - Can always show the waveform track. It can be set in the Preferences Window->Global->Timeline.

  2. Higher Zoom Out - To overview the whole project, you can optionally choose higher zoom out level. It can be set in the Preferences Window->Global->Timeline.

  3. Looping - VoiceQ can loop the selected lines. Select this right-click on Play icon.

    • Note for Looping (DAW) - If VoiceQ runs as slave of DAW, VoiceQ's loop setting will be ignored. To loop with Pro Tools, MIDI song position should be used for synchronisation. The synchronisation using MIDI song position may not be as good as that using MTC but Pro Tools doesn't send correct MTC while looping. If possible, please use ReWire as communication protocol for looping.

  4. Looping Pre-Roll - Preroll time for looping can be set in the Preferences Window->Global->Timeline.

  5. Single Character Mode - Easy way to set up character filter on one character to concentrate one character in the work-process.

  6. Marker Import/Export - Markers are included in the import/export projects in JSON format.

Fixes

Fixed a bug that long lines were not shown in the video window under certain output mode.

This update release provides enhanced performance and usability improvements.

 

New Features

New Preferences layout - Global settings have been split into four sections under the Global tab.

  • Video Window - Has all controls for Video window incl. Resolution, Brightness and Style.

  • Behaviours - Contains shortcuts, script editor settings and default language settings.

  • Misc. - Contains notifications and updates options.

Markers to annotate timeline - In the timeline right-click a selection to add a marker. Markers can be edited and logged. The last entry will become the default for your next marker. Marker data is saved and can be easily selected from a pop-up menu.
Custom shortcut keys - Can be allocated for some operations. See ‘Preferences>Behaviours. You can change the key combination for a limited range of commands. Users need to close preferences for changes to take effect.
Character information - Users can export/import Character informations to/from CSV or Excel files.

Enhancements

  1. Can transpose Character-scene matrix report

  2. Number of words can be included in the character-scene matrix report

  3. Can hide ‘done’ lines from the script view

  4. Preferences window has been redesigned to support lower resolution display better

Fixes

  1. Character Reports - Fixed a bug that could cause individual character reports save failure with specific character names.

  2. UI errors - Fixed other minor UI glitches.

Google API support - Users need to sign-in with their Google Cloud account to access the service. Please refer to Google Cloud for pricing & charges while using the service at the following link: https://cloud.google.com/

 

Improvements

AutoSync Assistant API - Auto Sync can work with Google Cloud Speech. User must provide their own Google Cloud API key enabled the service.

AutoSync Language Support (via Google Speech API) - AutoSync Assistant now supports a larger amount of languages. Please refer to the following link to see supported languages: https://cloud.google.com/speech/docs/languages

External Service Configuration (Command+6) - Open the configuration window to add in your Google API and choose which service you wish to use.

Multiple lines in Script View - Users can select to see all text in a line. Right-click a selected line and select 'Show Multiple Lines' to see all text in a line in the script view.

Google sign-in - Instruction for users to download a pass-key

FDX Timecode Support - Enhanced FDX import logic that can import timecode in the ‘number’ fields. Also the language can be auto detected.

Internal window shortcuts - Added short cuts for various configuration sheets. Users can now close them by pressing the escape (ESC) key.

 

Fixes

AutoSync Logic - Auto Sync logic enhanced to reduce errors and to increase synchronisation percentages.

Line highlight during playback active - Fixed an issue where lines would not highlight correctly in the script view during playback.

Line selection - Selection by clicking in timeline now affects selection in script view.

Line addition - Adding a line in timeline by pop up menu works with the clicked time and track.

Pop-up Menus - Popup menus in timeline view and script view work more consistently with clicked items rather than with selected items.

Timeline Changes - Reduce jumpy scroll and other glitches in timeline after performing specific operations such as add/delete/undo/redo.

Transcription - Transcript re-enabled by Google Cloud Translation. User must provide their own Google Cloud API key enabled the service. Please refer to Google Cloud for pricing & charges.

Negative duration (Unable to save) - Fixed an error that an empty line has negative duration and cause UI error and save failure in specific languages such as Japanese and Chinese.

VoiceQ™ Writer is a software application built as an all-in-one script writer for use with VoiceQ™ 3.1. The integrated script writer makes it possible for writers, translators and trans-adaptors to have full control over their scripts before recording, including import and export functionality across a wide range of formats. Voice recording is becoming about more than just actors or engineers, and this upgrade enables greater input at every stage of the processes.

Update Notes (v3.1.1 - May 2017)

This hot-fix addressed the following issues:

1. Issues when zooming out too far: Caused an issue where project lines were to no longer visible.

2. Filter character: Alt+Up/Down not working as intended; Has been addressed and works correctly.

3. Playback issue: Issue when initiating playback before media is ready; Caused play button to be inaccessible.

Important

VoiceQ™ Writer project files can only be opened from VoiceQ™ 3.1 or higher. If you use VoiceQ™ Writer and need to open the project file in an older version you will need to export a .csv or .txt file then import that into a new project. We advise any users using VoiceQ 3.0 to update to the latest build to take advantage of all new features & enhancements.

Features

Playback Rate Options: Right-click on the Play icon to bring up playback options: 0.5x,1.0x,1.5x,2.0x playback rates. Users can now control the speed at which the video plays back allowing for more precise syncing.

Import Excel (.XLSX) files: Users can now import spreadsheets from the latest version of Microsoft Excel. XLSX is a file extension for an open XML spreadsheet file format used by Microsoft Excel.

Import Final Draft (.FDX) files: Users can now import files from Final Draft Pro. FDX is the XML file format native to Final Draft 10 / 9 / 8 and the Final Draft Writer for iPad.

Export Excel (.CSV/.XLSX) files: Users can now export spreadsheets. A CSV is a comma separated values file which allows data to be saved in a table structured format. XLSX is a file extension for an open XML spreadsheet file format used by Microsoft Excel.

Multiple Character Filter: Users can select multiple characters to filter. This allows users to view selected characters in the Timeline, script view and video window.

Gender Assignment: Users can easily assign and sort characters by gender located in the Characters pane.

Secondary language view: Users can now view languages side by side for faster translation within VoiceQ. Secondary language view is only visible when users have added a second language. Right click on the secondary language bar to select another language if using three or more.

Individual Character report export options: Users can now export character progress reports individually. This allows content producers to send scripts to specific talent before recording. To use this select File>Report>Individual Character Script Reports… and select a folder to save to.

Changes

Spellchecker: Enabled by default when using script view for user convenience. 

DAW Interface: Removed features not eligible to users of VoiceQ™ Writer related to DAW interfaces.

Note: All versions of VoiceQ require a system running MacOS 10.9 or later to run. No system support for 10.8 or below available.
