The only serious contender

It’s a good news week.

On Monday, for the first time, Netflix released rankings for its top-10 shows and movies by the number of hours watched in the first month of release. This is seen by commentators as a more useful measure of the strength of shows than the usual viewership stats which are based on the number of accounts that viewed at least two minutes of a program.

We knew VoiceQ clients would fare well and are delighted to see shows powered by VoiceQ technology in the top 10– including La Casa de Papel / Money Heist (Part 3 and Part 4), Lupin (part 1), and Emily in Paris.

And we are especially thrilled with the industry prediction on a new VoiceQ powered localization. Squid Game is a South Korean action series which pits desperate competitors against one another in kids’ games, but with an extreme twist. The breakout hit is currently trending in Netflix’s top 10 shows and #1 in the US, and is predicted to be the new leader in the ranks of Netflix’s top TV once it hits its one-month mark.

In fact, the prediction is Squid Game may become Netflix's biggest show ever, " Squid Game will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO Monday - adding that there's "a very good chance it's going to be our biggest show ever."

VoiceQ client VSI/ Voice & Script International is responsible for the superb dubbing for this gripping show. The expert team in Los Angeles, supported by VoiceQ across their workflow, engaged a diverse Asian American cast to provide an immersive Dolby Atmos experience for the US English dub.
